The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the necessary skills for progression to full time employment or further education on completion. The course is designed to enhance the participants’ confidence and communicative abilities so that they may be applied effectively in their professional and personal lives.  An emphasis upon art-based learning through a range of specifically devised modules engages the learner in a unique and progressive way. Through the creative arts we can access individual, unexplored skills, diversify and clarify process and thinking, heighten our awareness of others and enable the individuals voice to be communicated in an open-minded, inspiring environment.

Learners on the QQI Level 4 course are further encouraged through tutorials and a range of mutually beneficial, practice-led activities – such as music performances and in the organisation of collaborative community events.

Progression Opportunities:

There are multiple opportunities available to learners on completion of the course.  Many of our participants enter into full time employment or progress to specialist training in Further Education at the following institutions:

QQI Level 5 in Music 5M2011

The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the necessary skills for working in a range of areas within the music industry. Learners will gain first-hand experience and training whilst being offered information and advice from experienced professionals. The course takes a multi-faceted and practical approach, covering aspects of live performance, business, as well as the theory of written music.  Modules in QQI Level 5 Music will provide the learner with the skills relevant to participation within the music industry through both personal and professional development. Our course emphasises the creative process in tandem with hands-on experience; Upon completion of all module work, learners take part in a six- week song-writing and recording project.

Progression Opportunities:

Learners are facilitated to pursue multiple progression opportunities upon the completion of this course.  Pathways include:

  • B.I.M.M
  • Music Degree courses in Ireland and abroad
  • Academy of popular Music Cork.

 

Over eighty percent of the learners who attended East Cork Music Project have now moved forward into further education and employment.  The success of our past participants reflects the range of skills and opportunities which can be honed through our courses. Many have gone on to work and further education in areas as diverse as the music, beauty and sports industries, whilst others have entered in to the healthcare sector, furthering careers in areas including psychology, youth work, and child care.

Our programme has given learners the confidence and skills that make them want to achieve the best for themselves and their communities.
